Not just guns and tanks: Germans will build 4,000 apartments for their soldiers and officers near Latvia

The German company Feps intends to build a German Village quarter in Lithuania with approximately 4,000 housing units intended for Bundeswehr personnel stationed in the country.

The decision on the exact location of the project has not yet been made — the company is primarily focusing on the area between Vilnius and Rudninkai, as well as the territories around Rukla in the Jonava district.

A training ground already operates in Gaižiučiai, and a military camp for the German brigade is being built on the territory of the training ground in Rudninkai.

The statement indicated that the cost of the project could amount to "several hundred million euros."

"Residential facilities are being designed according to German directives applicable to military personnel stationed abroad and their families. Depending on personal circumstances — single, married without children, married with children, officer rank, and so on — each military member is entitled to a certain standard and living conditions," the developers reported.

Construction of the first apartment buildings may begin in the second half of this year.

As reported, Berlin plans to deploy a brigade of approximately 4,000–5,000 personnel in Lithuania by the end of 2027.
