Ukraine has begun receiving refurbished wind turbines and solar panels from the Netherlands, which will help strengthen energy supply amid constant Russian attacks on critical infrastructure. This was reported by the Dutch publication NOS.

Some of the wind turbines, previously operational in the Netherlands and Belgium, have already been installed in western Ukraine. Solar panels are also being used to ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical institutions, particularly hospitals.

"Refurbished Dutch wind turbines and solar panels will help Ukraine maintain the critically needed electricity," the report states.

According to NOS, Dutch companies are supplying equipment to stabilize the Ukrainian energy system. Despite limited supply volumes, businesses express their intention to significantly expand their involvement in the restoration of Ukraine's energy sector.

To this end, the industry association NedZero and 12 companies have signed an agreement with the government of the Netherlands, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The document provides for:

  • support for Dutch companies operating in the Ukrainian energy market;
  • simplification of the import of wind turbines, solar panels, batteries, and related equipment;
  • training for Ukrainian specialists;
  • launching production of components in Ukraine.

Ukrainian enterprises note that such wind turbines are affordably priced, reliable, and can be delivered quickly. This is particularly important, as after the full-scale invasion, Ukraine lost a significant portion of its generating capacity, and prolonged power outages remain a common occurrence.

The placement of renewable energy sources in different regions reduces the risks of large-scale outages during new attacks and accelerates the restoration of electricity supply.

Despite military threats, Ukraine continues to build new wind farms and solar stations — even near combat zones, demonstrating the resilience and growth orientation of its energy system.
