Lithuania to Earn €150 Million from Transit of Russian Gas: Vilnius Signs New Contract with Gazprom

Due to the expiration on January 1, 2026, of the 10-year contract for the transit of Russian natural gas through Lithuania, the Russian and Lithuanian state companies have signed a new agreement.

Next year, Lithuania's revenue from this transit will amount to approximately €30 million – more than double the current contract.

The five-year contract was signed by the Lithuanian gas transmission system operator Amber Grid and the Russian energy giant Gazprom.

"The terms for providing new transit services are established for five years — until December 31, 2030. The prices for services are set by the State Council of Lithuania for Energy Regulation; for 2026, the allowable revenue level is determined to be around €30 million," Amber Grid announced via the Vilnius Nasdaq exchange.

If Lithuanians plan to receive €30 million from the Russians in one year, then over five years, revenues can be projected at €150 million.

Gas will be supplied from 'mainland' Russia through Lithuanian territory to the Russian exclave – the Kaliningrad region.

According to the company's statement, during the contract period, the capacity of 10.5 million cubic meters per day (or in energy units — 111.3 GWh) will be available at the exit point to the Kaliningrad region.
