In November, the annual inflation in Latvia was above the average for the European Union and the eurozone, according to data published on Wednesday by the EU Statistical Office Eurostat, reports LETA.
The annual inflation in Latvia in November was 3.8%.
The lowest inflation last month was recorded in Cyprus (0.1%), France (0.8%), Italy (1.1%), and Finland (1.5%).
At the same time, higher annual inflation than in Latvia was observed in Romania (8.6%), Estonia (4.7%), Croatia (4.3%), Austria (4%), and Slovakia (3.9%). In Lithuania, as well as in Luxembourg, the annual inflation was 3.6%.
On average in the EU, the annual inflation in November was 2.4%, while in the eurozone it was 2.1%.
Compared to the previous month — October — consumer prices in the EU decreased by 0.2% in November, while in the eurozone they fell by 0.3%.
In Latvia, as in Sweden, consumer prices in November decreased by 0.3% compared to October. Monthly deflation was recorded in 15 EU countries, with the largest decrease in Malta (-3.2%). The highest monthly inflation was noted in Romania (+0.5%), while in Spain, Hungary, and Slovenia, consumer prices remained stable. In Lithuania, prices increased by 0.4%, while in Estonia, as well as in Denmark and Germany, they decreased by 0.5%.
Eurostat calculates inflation based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) adopted in the EU.
