Since the beginning of the year, China has sent more than 9,000 freight trains to Europe 0 10

The number of China-Europe and China-Central Asia train shipments that passed through the Khorgos railway checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /Northwest China/ since the beginning of 2025 has exceeded 9,000.

This milestone was reached after a China-Europe freight train loaded with clothing, toys, electromechanical products, auto parts, and other goods departed from the Khorgos checkpoint to the Polish station of Malaszewicze on Tuesday.

As of November 23, the number of China-Europe/Central Asia trains that passed through the Khorgos railway checkpoint since the beginning of 2025 reached 8,742 units. Thus, this year, the total number of shipments of such railway trains reached the figure for the entire year of 2024, 38 days earlier.

In May of this year, measures were launched at the Khorgos checkpoint aimed at implementing a smart railway checkpoint and accelerating customs clearance, resulting in the time for imported goods to pass through the checkpoint being reduced from 2-3 days to less than 16 hours.

Currently, trains operate on 90 routes through the Khorgos railway checkpoint, covering 46 cities and regions in 18 countries around the world. In total, more than 50,000 freight trains from China to Europe and China to Central Asia have passed through this border crossing.

Rail transport from Europe to China is a mode of cargo transportation along the international routes of the New Silk Road, with the advantage of an optimal balance between speed (15–25 days) and cost compared to sea and air transport. The main routes connect major cities in China (Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Yiwu, Wuhan) with European hubs (Łódź, Hamburg, Pardubice, Madrid) through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus. For goods that require fast but not urgent delivery, such as electronics, clothing, auto parts, and everyday consumer goods, rail transport is an effective solution.
