Nicolas Maduro's government has chosen a strategic partner from afar.

The National Assembly has decided to maintain the production activities of Russian companies in Venezuela's oil sector from 2026 to 2041.

This measure was unanimously approved and is considered key to strengthening the country's energy potential.

Orlando Camacho, chairman of the Energy and Oil Commission, presented a report justifying the extension. Camacho emphasized that the continuation of Petroperijá and Boquerón's operations will ensure hydrocarbon production and stability in the national industry.

  • Petroperijá S.A. plans to extract 68 million barrels of oil during the extended period.

  • It is also expected to produce over 28 billion cubic feet of associated gas, supported by investments of $292 million.

  • Boquerón S.A. intends to extract 23 million barrels of oil and about 269 billion cubic feet of gas.

  • Investments in this project are estimated at $324 million, ensuring the sustainability of its operations.

Camacho stated that these investments will contribute to the modernization of oil infrastructure and the growth of energy production.

The extension of agreements will allow the participation of the Russian state company Rosneft in projects, strengthening strategic international alliances.
