The Expansion of Artificial Intelligence in Latvian Workplaces Gains Momentum

Over the past two years, a quarter of all workers have improved their AI usage skills in performing work duties. Even more individuals expressed a desire to acquire such knowledge in the near future, as shown by the "Digital Portrait of a Leader" study.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has become the most sought-after skill in the workplace this year, with 24.8% of all respondents mastering it.

While in previous years, the greatest interest in cutting-edge technological capabilities was shown by executives, this year employees have also become active. Among senior and middle management, 24.5% of respondents have acquired this skill, while among employees, the figure is 25.2%.

2025 also marks the first year that AI has become the most in-demand skill to acquire, surpassing the ability to find work-life balance (19.3%), time management (17.4%), and motivational skills (13.9%).

The survey data suggest that training in the opportunities offered by AI will expand in the coming years. 33.9% of respondents have already expressed a desire to acquire or enhance these digital skills. Executives are particularly decisive in this regard, with 38.2% of them expressing such a desire. The proportion among workers is 29.6%.

It is noteworthy that interest in AI in the corporate environment is almost twice as high as that for the second most popular digital skill—working with file-sharing systems. 19.2% of all respondents want to master it.

"The enormous investments that technology giants are making in the development of AI are beginning to yield the expected results, making these tools useful assistants for workers who know how to use them. It is no longer just about writing a statement or generating a simple image. Today, AI tools function as full-fledged assistants, quickly extracting and analyzing data in various dimensions from extensive databases, effectively planning the workday, programming working applications from text commands, and extracting specific details from thousands of pages of thick documents, thereby making life easier for employees. Skillful integration of AI tools into daily work can significantly increase productivity and thus reduce the time required to complete tasks. Survey data show that these benefits have already been recognized in the business environment and are actively being integrated into daily operations," comments Viesturs Slaidins, head of Jumis Pro, the company that conducted the research.

The study "Digital Portrait of a Leader 2025" was conducted in the fall of 2025, involving 145 executives, department heads, and employees of Latvian companies.
