The Health Inspection Suspended the Repackaging Services of Perfumes for a Company Operating in Riga's Shopping Centers

The Health Inspection has ordered LLC "Brandberry.eu" to cease repackaging services for perfumes both in stores and online.

The decision is justified by non-compliance with the requirements of the European Regulation on Cosmetic Products due to insufficient safety justification.

The inspection confirmed that LLC "Brandberry.eu" provided incomplete documentation regarding the safety of cosmetic products. Therefore, the company has been ordered to suspend the repackaging of perfumes into smaller volumes at all retail locations and in the online store until the necessary safety evidence is presented.

The European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) notes that perfumes may contain substances that can cause contact allergies; in the absence of proper documentation or labeling, their sale or use may pose a health risk.

Repackaging of perfumes is allowed only if the repackager can present the manufacturer's authorization or ensures all necessary hygiene conditions and controlled working processes. Without such prerequisites, there is a risk that the product may be unsafe for the consumer.

Consumers should remain vigilant. If perfumes are offered as transferred from a larger bottle or in refilled containers, inquire about the availability of safety documentation, manufacturer's authorization, or certificates. Prefer labeled and carefully packaged products from verified sellers. Avoid suspiciously cheap or unlabeled offers — this is a simple way to reduce risk.
