У министра финансов А.Ашераденса в бюджете завалялось 22 млн евро.

It turns out that tens of millions of euros have "accumulated" in the Latvian treasury. The Ministry of Finance describes their find in a message to bb.lv: "additional resources of over 22 million euros have been identified." Why weren’t they identified earlier?

However, better late than never. What’s more interesting is how the found millions will be spent. The most significant part of the additional funds is allocated for the redesign of the troubled Rail Baltica railway — 8 million euros. In fact, several billion are lacking there, so 8 million is quite little.

Additionally, 4.8 million euros will be allocated to support rural family doctors.

Another 1.8 million euros will go towards supporting victims of violence, and 1 million euros will be used for preserving sacred heritage. The Ministry of Finance does not provide details on the distribution of funds for victims and sacred heritage.

The remaining 6.4 million will be spread thinly across the public sandwich — the money will be divided between the Ministry of Education and Science (to support educators), the Ministry of Health (to create an emergency medical assistance point in Indra parish), as well as for unnamed important state activities.

It should be noted that the consolidated state budget expenditures for the next year amount to 17.9 billion euros. Thus, the 22 million euros discovered by the Ministry of Finance is only 0.1 percent. That’s not enough; more scraping is needed.
