Another opportunity has passed Riga by: Amazon opens office in Tallinn

Amazon has opened an office in Tallinn, strengthening its presence in the region. The AWS and Amazon Music divisions will operate in Estonia, supporting digital transformation and the development of cloud technologies in the Baltic countries.

The global technology giant Amazon opened an office in Tallinn on Thursday to expand its presence in the region. The new office will house divisions of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Music. Amazon Web Services, the most comprehensive and widely used cloud service in the world, established its Estonian branch back in 2023, and as of today, the company has an office in Tallinn for even more effective customer support across the Baltics.

According to Amazon representatives, the company is investing in Estonia because it sees great potential here. As organizations increasingly migrate their mission-critical business applications to AWS, the company has a large and growing customer base in Estonia. "For many years, we have been honored to work closely with Estonian customers and partners, supporting them on their journey of innovation and digital transformation. The opening of the new Amazon office in Tallinn is a landmark milestone that reinforces our commitment to Estonia," said Kellen O'Connor, AWS CEO for Northern Europe.

For Estonia, this is a strategically important step as one of the world's most recognized companies expands its operations in the country. The government has consistently supported AWS in this process, primarily through the Foreign Investment Center of the Enterprise and Innovation Foundation (Ettevõtluse ja Innovatsiooni Sihtasutus).

"Amazon's decision to open an office in Estonia once again confirms that our open and innovative business environment is attractive to international technology companies," said Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Erkki Keldo. "This move will bring new knowledge and investments to Estonia, as well as create a solid foundation for future cooperation between our entrepreneurs and global players. I am confident that AWS's presence will contribute to both the development of Estonia's economy and the international expansion of our companies. I wish Amazon strength and success in realizing new opportunities in Estonia," the minister added.

AWS is one of the largest and most influential cloud platforms in the world, offering computing, storage, and data processing services for companies, developers, and the public sector. AWS services are used by both startups and large corporations, as its services are distinguished by flexibility, scalability, security, high reliability, and low costs.
