According to the latest data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, there were approximately 888 million tourist trips made in the country. This is 123 million trips more than during the seven-day holiday period for the National Day of the People's Republic of China in 2024.

At the same time, spending on domestic tourism reached 809 billion yuan (about 113.8 billion dollars). Year-on-year, this figure increased by 108 billion yuan.

Extended holidays combined with flexible vacation schemes allowed travelers to lengthen their itineraries. According to data from the China Tourism Academy, the average travel radius increased by 14.8% to approximately 213 kilometers. Meanwhile, the average sightseeing radius in specific destinations expanded by 24.5% to reach 23 km.

About 22% of rural residents traveled within China, making 102 million trips - 11.5% of all domestic tours during the holiday period. More than 40 percent of travelers opted out of popular cities and chose quieter and more peaceful destination options.

Data from leading Chinese online travel platforms, including Trip.com and Fliggy, show that this year during the holiday period, the share of bookings for long domestic tours increased by three percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, Chinese tourists traveling abroad visited more than 180 countries. According to the State Administration of Migration, a total of more than 16.3 million trips abroad were registered during the holiday period in China.

It was previously reported that box office revenues for Chinese cinemas during the recent holiday period - National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival (Zhongqiu or Moon Festival) - exceeded 1.6 billion yuan (about 225 million dollars).
