American entrepreneur and investor Elon Musk became the first person in history whose net worth exceeded $500 billion. This is reported by Forbes.
For comparison, the consolidated state budget expenditures of Latvia for 2025 amount to €17.093 billion ($20 billion).
Thus, the wealth of one person would be enough to cover the expenses of the Republic of Latvia for a quarter century.
Musk's wealth has been boosted by Tesla shares, which rose nearly 4% on Wednesday, October 1, adding $9.3 billion to his fortune. The company's value is now only 10% below its all-time high, and Musk's stake in Tesla is valued at $191 billion.
SpaceX also contributes significantly, with its value rising to $400 billion in August. Musk owns about 42% of the company's shares worth $168 billion. He also controls about $60 billion through his company xAI Holdings, established after the merger of the artificial intelligence xAI with the social network X (Twitter).
Back in 2020, Musk's net worth was $24.6 billion. Just a year later, he became the richest person in the world: in 2021, he crossed the $200 billion mark.
According to Forbes estimates, if the growth rates continue, Musk could become the world's first trillionaire by 2033.
