The threat of invasion into the Promised Land from the north has been effectively eliminated.

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir told Israeli leadership that if an agreement on a ceasefire with Lebanon is reached, it is better to conclude it immediately rather than in the near future under similar conditions.

"If we have to come to a ceasefire on the terms agreed in Washington, then it is better to do it now than in a few months," Channel 12 quotes Zamir's statement, made not for the press.

"Kan" clarifies that these comments were made during a meeting of the political-security cabinet. Zamir explained to the ministers: if an agreement can be reached "on terms acceptable to us," then it is more advantageous to sign it promptly now than to achieve the same result a month later.

Additionally, according to Channel 12, during a meeting with mayors of cities and heads of local councils of northern border communities, Zamir emphasized that "Hezbollah" is not destroyed, but it is weaker than ever now," adding that the threat of a ground invasion from Lebanon has been completely eliminated.

The IDF controls a "buffer zone" in southern Lebanon and southwestern Syria and occasionally strikes targets and conducts operations in these countries.

In Gaza, a ceasefire regime is formally in place. At the same time, the IDF controls the buffer zone (over 50% of the territory of the sector). In response to violations, the IDF attacks terrorists.
