Trump has extended all U.S. sanctions against the authorities of Belarus for another year
U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to extend sanctions against the leadership of Belarus for another year. In justifying this step, he referred to the same reasons that were cited when the sanctions were introduced in 2006.
"The national emergency declared in Executive Order 13405 shall remain in effect beyond June 16, 2026," the Trump order states.
The document was registered in the White House database, although it was signed by Trump and approved by his administration. Publication of the document is scheduled for May 26, 2026.
At the same time, it was recently reported that Alexander Lukashenko thanked the U.S. for humanitarian aid to Minsk. The President of Belarus conveyed warm words to Donald Trump, stating that among the Belarusian leadership and the country as a whole, the American leader "has reliable friends and supporters."
