U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chávez-Deremer is leaving her post in President Donald Trump's administration, White House representatives announced on Monday, LETA reported, citing AFP.

The secretary is resigning after a series of scandals related to the treatment of young female employees.

Chávez-Deremer became the third woman to leave her post in the Trump administration recently. Before her, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielsen resigned on March 5 and Attorney General Pam Bondi on April 2.

"Labor Secretary Lori Chávez-Deremer will leave the administration [of Trump] to take a position in the private sector," White House Communications Director Stephen Chung announced on the platform "X," praising her "phenomenal work."

Former Congresswoman Chávez-Deremer was confirmed as secretary with the support of more than ten Democratic senators. Recently, she was urged to resign following allegations that she, her aides, and family members sent personal messages and demands to young employees.

Three employees filed civil lawsuits, claiming a hostile work environment.

The acting labor secretary will be current Deputy Chávez-Deremer, Keith Sonderling, but it is still unknown who Trump may nominate for this position.
