US President Donald Trump has extended for a year the state of emergency imposed due to threats from Russia, which restricts the movement of Russian ships and their entry into US ports, according to a statement from the White House published in the Federal Register, LETA reports citing Ukraińska Pravda.
The statement indicates that this regime was introduced on April 21, 2022, by former US President Joe Biden.
He also authorized the Secretary of Homeland Security to regulate the entry and movement of vessels associated with Russia.
"The policies and actions of the Russian government continue to pose an extraordinary threat, violating or threatening to violate US international relations," the statement said.
In light of the ongoing situation, Trump extended for another year the "emergency powers regarding the regulation of entry and movement of vessels associated with Russia in the ports of the United States," notes the White House.
