U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American naval forces will begin stopping all vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, the blockade will take effect immediately, and other countries will participate. Trump did not specify which countries are involved.
Trump also stated that the U.S. Navy will intercept any vessels in international waters that have paid Iran an 'illegal fee.'
In addition, the U.S. will begin destroying mines planted by the Iranians in the straits.
'Any Iranian who shoots at us or at civilian vessels will be destroyed,' Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that U.S. military forces 'are ready for battle.'
