The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran stated on Tuesday morning that it will "determine the end of the war," rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks that the war is largely already over, LETA reported citing DPA.

"We are the ones who will determine the end of the war," the corps said in a statement distributed by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

"The situation on the battlefield and the end of the war are in the hands of the Islamic Republic [of Iran]," the corps added in its statement.

Trump, in a phone interview with CBS on Monday, expressed the opinion that the war between the U.S. and Israel with Iran is largely already over.

"I believe this war is over, largely. They have no navy, no communications, they have no air force. Their missiles are scattered. Their drones are being destroyed everywhere, as is drone production. If you look, they have nothing left. Nothing left in a military sense," Trump said, reiterating his assessment of Iran's losses that he had expressed in previous days.

Trump also noted that the U.S. is "very far" ahead of the initially designated timeframe for the war — four or five weeks.

Israel and the U.S. began strikes against Iran on February 28. As a result of missile strikes and air raids, many cities in Iran were affected, including the capital Tehran. Iran retaliated with strikes against Israel and U.S. military facilities in the Persian Gulf region.

After the start of these strikes, Trump predicted that the military campaign would last four or five weeks. At the end of last week, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt mentioned a period of four to six weeks.
