Putin: Russia is ready to work with Europe on gas supplies.
Russia is ready to work with Europe on oil and gas supplies, but "a signal is needed from them," said Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
Putin noted that Russia "should not wait for Europe to demonstratively slam the door on energy supplies, but should redirect volumes to other markets."
He added that the Russian Federation will continue to supply oil and gas to those countries that are "reliable buyers," naming Slovakia and Hungary among them, and also reported that overall supplies of energy resources to buyers of Russian fuel are currently increasing in several regions of the world.
He also reminded that Russian energy companies "have always been characterized by stability," urging the companies themselves to use the current moment with oil prices and direct revenue towards repaying debts to banks.
Putin made these remarks at a meeting on the situation in the global oil and gas market, which took place on March 9 at the Kremlin.
