A potential deployment could mean conducting limited special operations.

U.S. President Donald Trump has privately expressed serious interest in deploying American ground troops on Iranian territory. This was reported by several U.S. officials and sources familiar with internal discussions within the administration, according to NBC News.

According to them, during conversations with aides and Republican Party representatives, Trump described a possible post-war scenario for Iran. It was not about a large-scale invasion, but rather a small contingent of U.S. troops that could be used to achieve specific strategic objectives.

Sources note that the president has not made final decisions or given orders for the deployment of ground forces. However, private discussions indicate that he is considering this option more seriously than his public statements suggest.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump stated that he does not rule out the use of ground forces:

"I have no doubt about the use of troops on the ground," he said, adding that such an option may only be necessary under certain conditions.

Experts note that a potential troop deployment could mean conducting limited special operations – for example, raids to eliminate key targets or control nuclear facilities. At the same time, analysts say this is significantly different from a full-scale ground operation.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran is prepared for a possible deployment of American troops.

"We are waiting for them. We are confident that we can confront them, and it will be a great disaster for them," he said, adding that Iran "has prepared for any scenario."
