DM: gas in Britain will run out in 2 days due to disruptions in the energy resource market.
In the United Kingdom, gas will run out in two days — the country has reserves for less than two days. This situation has arisen due to disruptions in the global energy market, reports the Daily Mail (DM).
The gas transmission system operator National Gas provided information indicating that approximately 6.7-7 thousand gigawatt-hours of gas remain in Britain's storage facilities. This is significantly less than the volumes the country had a year ago, which could cover only about one and a half to two days of domestic consumption.
Meanwhile, in the Middle East, some tankers transporting LNG are changing routes and heading to Asia, where prices are currently higher. As a result, Britain has to pay more for supplies. The country has already recorded some of the highest wholesale gas prices in Europe.
Experts are making alarming statements that the United Kingdom is becoming vulnerable due to its small gas storage facilities and high dependence on imports (primarily from Norway and LNG from the USA).
