Orban is accused of receiving large-scale assistance from the Kremlin

Former Prime Minister Kiriyenko is behind the campaign of Russian interference.

Investigative journalists, together with European security services, have established that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed a group of political technologists and the military intelligence of the Russian Federation to intervene in the parliamentary elections in Hungary in April to ensure the victory of the incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

This is reported by "European Truth" in an investigation by the VSquare project.

According to sources, Putin tasked Sergey Kiriyenko, the first deputy head of the administration, who is the architect of all of Russia's political influence infrastructure – both domestic and foreign – with "dealing with" Hungary.

It is Kiriyenko who is behind the campaign of Russian interference in the 2024 presidential elections in Moldova. At that time, Russia engaged vote-buying networks, troll farms, and local activists to sway public opinion against pro-Western President Maia Sandu.

A similar operation is being prepared by Kiriyenko along with Vadim Titov, the head of the Main Directorate of Strategic Partnerships and Cooperation, in Hungary.

The plan includes placing Russian social media manipulation experts at the Russian embassy in Budapest. For cover, they have received service and diplomatic passports, which provide them with a certain level of immunity.

According to sources, this team in Budapest consists of three people and operates at the embassy on behalf of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.

Additionally, it is known that Kiriyenko himself maintains connections with some organizers of the electoral campaign of Orban's party, Fidesz.

This information is known to national security sources from at least three European countries, so the intelligence services of many EU and NATO countries are likely already aware of the Kremlin's intentions and are monitoring the situation.

Journalists add that the anti-Ukrainian narratives of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban only strengthen the cover for Russian disinformation operations, which work best when the information ecosystem of the country is already receptive to them.

It is worth noting that recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that the Hungarian Prime Minister's party would lose the elections, making it possible to normalize relations with Hungary.

Zelensky also hinted at Orban, stating that if the EU loan continues to be blocked, "the address of this person" will be provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
