“This is not our war” – German authorities will not send soldiers to fight Iran

German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil rejected Berlin's involvement in escalating the military conflict in Iran, calling the U.S.-Israeli campaign "not our war."

He said this on Saturday, March 7, Politico reports.

Klingbeil stated that although the Iranian government is a "terrorist regime," he has "significant doubts" that airstrikes will lead to a permanent solution to the problem or comply with international law.

"I am very clear: this is not our war. We will not participate in this war," he emphasized.

The German minister warned of a global order in which "only the law of the strongest prevails," calling for a return to a rules-based system.

His comments came amid German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warning the U.S. and Israel about the risks that an "endless" war against Iran could bring.

And German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius characterized the approach of President Donald Trump's administration as "illusory," stating that conflicts cannot be resolved "only by military force and unilateral actions."
