War with Iran could turn into a political catastrophe for U.S. President Donald Trump. This was stated by Republican Party political technologist and former State Department employee Matthew Bartlett, as reported by CNN.

"No one considers this war popular. At best, it is a distraction from priority economic issues. But at worst, it could turn into a political catastrophe," he said.

According to the expert, the war could have a devastating effect on the Republican Party, from which it will take "generations to recover."

On February 28, Trump announced the start of a military operation by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. The targets of the strikes included command facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, airfields, drone launch sites, and air defense systems.
