Spain Opposes the US 0 10

Spain has prohibited US President Donald Trump from using its military bases for an attack on Iran and has therefore expelled US Air Force tankers stationed there. This was reported by El Pais.

As the publication notes, Spain refuses to support the US-Israeli military operation against Iran and distances itself from the positions of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, which have expressed a willingness to undertake even "proportionate offensive actions" in response to Tehran's attacks on the Persian Gulf countries and Cyprus.

"Each country makes its own foreign policy decisions. Spain has a very clear position: Europe’s voice must currently be a voice of balance and moderation, aimed at de-escalation and returning to the negotiating table," said the country’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.

At the same time, the minister condemned the "absolutely unjustified" attacks by Iran on the Persian Gulf countries, particularly on Cyprus, an EU member state currently holding the presidency of the Union, to which he expressed "full support and solidarity."

According to Spain's Defense Minister Margarita Robles, Madrid's refusal to provide military support for an attack on Iran has led the Pentagon to withdraw a dozen KC-135 refueling aircraft stationed at Morón Air Base in Seville and, to a lesser extent, at Rota Air Base in Cádiz, which were used for in-flight refueling of bombers.
