The Federal Chancellor of Germany supported the actions of the U.S. and Israel.
Merz supported the U.S. and Israel's attack on Iran and stated that he would not "teach" allies international law. The German government shares the "relief of many Iranians that the mullah regime is coming to an end," said Friedrich Merz. "Together with the U.S. and Israel, we are interested in putting an end to the terror of this regime and stopping Iran's dangerous nuclear program," said the Chancellor of Germany. At the same time, he urged Tehran to cease its retaliatory attacks in the region.
When asked about the legality of the attack on Iran from the perspective of international law, Merz said: Germany sees a "dilemma" in that no steps taken under international law have succeeded in achieving anything regarding the leadership in Tehran over the past decades. According to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, now is "not the time to teach our partners and allies."
