20,000 people linked to ISIS escaped from a camp in Syria

More than 20,000 people linked to the terrorist organization ISIS escaped from the Al-Hol camp in Syria. This was reported by The Financial Times.

The camp housed both ISIS militants and their family members. Thousands of detainees left the camp after it came under the control of the Syrian government.

"Thousands of people held in the camp managed to escape through breaches in the fencing, and they have already scattered across the country. Some illegally made their way to Iraq and Turkey," the publication notes.

It remains unknown who helped these people escape from the camp.
