MWM: Polish F-35s could become carriers of American nuclear weapons.
Pilots from Poland have logged over a thousand hours flying fifth-generation F-35 fighters, and these aircraft may potentially serve as carriers of nuclear weapons — American B61-12 bombs, writes Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The first F-35 for Poland was unveiled in the U.S. in August 2024, while the first Polish fighters are expected to arrive in Europe by the end of 2026. Under a contract signed in 2020, Warsaw is purchasing a total of 32 fifth-generation aircraft from Washington.
MWM assures that the F-35 will significantly enhance the capabilities of the 48 Polish fourth-generation F-16 fighters, which are awaiting modernization, and will also be able to break through the air defenses of Russia and Belarus if necessary. The magazine emphasizes that the F-35 greatly strengthens Poland's offensive potential.
The publication does not rule out that ultimately Polish F-35s, like the aircraft of several other NATO countries, could serve as nuclear strike aircraft.
