Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš stated that in 2022 it was possible to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia, but this chance was ruined by then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

He made the corresponding statement on the air of TN.cz.

According to Babiš, Ukraine and Russia were very close to reaching a peace agreement in April 2022. He believes that this process was disrupted after Western interference.

The Czech Prime Minister noted that the opportunity to achieve peace was missed after Boris Johnson's visit to Ukraine, resulting in the loss of a chance for a quick end to the war.

Babiš also expressed confidence that European countries cannot independently stop the war in Ukraine at this time, as the key figure in the possibility of achieving peace remains U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Negotiations are intense. There is an impression that they are approaching some long-term solution — an end to the war and the establishment of stable security guarantees for Ukraine. But Europe will not be able to do this without Donald Trump," Babiš noted.

He called on European leaders to resume direct negotiations with Moscow. According to him, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni could sit at the negotiating table.
