Scientists from the Chinese Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology in Xi'an have demonstrated the world's first microwave weapon. This concerns the TPG1000Cs model with a power of 20 GW, reports the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP).

It is noted that this ground system can generate high-energy pulses for a whole minute. This characteristic allows it to disable satellites in low Earth orbit. The dimensions of the installation reach four meters in length, although it weighs five tons. Such a specific ratio of length to weight opens up opportunities to covertly place the weapon on trucks, military ships, and aircraft.

The technological success of Chinese developers could pose a serious threat to Western weaponry. The publication notes that the capabilities of this device render established and modern methods of protecting space devices useless. Simply put, journalists are already calling it "the worst nightmare for Starlink."

It is noteworthy that until recently, such systems were considered experimental and unreliable. The latest development can generate up to three thousand pulses in one session. This indicates that the TPG1000Cs has every chance of becoming the first fully functional microwave weapon with immense power.
