The Azerbaijani president met with the country's president, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The parties discussed cooperation in economic and military fields.
Separately, Aliyev and Al Nahyan discussed the joint operational-tactical exercises "Shield of Peace – 2026," conducted in Abu Dhabi between the armed forces of the two countries.
The day before, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Baku would not allow its territory and airspace to be used for military operations against Iran.
Earlier, Azerbaijan sent a shipment of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This was ordered by the republic's president, Ilham Aliyev, as reported by Caliber. "The dispatch of humanitarian aid was ensured by the Ministry of Energy based on the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev," the statement said.
On February 4 and 5, the second round of negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will also take place in Abu Dhabi. It was postponed for additional coordination of the schedules of all parties, clarified Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously stated that the meeting could have been postponed, including due to the situation between the United States and Iran.
