Pistorius: Europeans could and should do more to support Ukraine.
European countries need to do more to support Ukraine. This was the response of Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to the words of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with ARD.
"Zelensky speaks out of despair, as a leader of a country in an extremely difficult situation. I share his view that Europeans could and should do more to support Ukraine," he said.
At the same time, the German minister emphasized that it is incorrect to speak of Europe's inability to defend itself. According to him, European countries are capable of doing so and are becoming stronger.
Earlier, Zelensky criticized Europe in his speech at the forum in Davos. He stated that European countries still do not know how to defend themselves and are unable to resolve the crisis with Greenland. He expressed confidence that Europe's strategy regarding the Greenland crisis is untenable and is based on the assumption that U.S. President Donald Trump will simply forget about this issue.
Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani responded to the Ukrainian leader and reproached him for ingratitude for the assistance, although Europe guaranteed Ukraine's independence and did everything to support it politically, financially, and militarily.
