Former NATO Deputy Secretary General Speaks About Russia and the USA

Former NATO Deputy Secretary General: Relations with the USA are at their lowest level.

Transatlantic relations reached their lowest point under U.S. President Donald Trump, and the creation of a unified security agreement with Russia also seems virtually impossible. This was stated by former NATO Deputy Secretary General and former Deputy Director of the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany Arndt Freitag von Loringhofen in an interview with Berliner Zeitung.

He also assessed the desire to annex Greenland and emphasized that any potential annexation of the island should be condemned as a clear violation of international law, adding that such a move would mean the end of NATO.

The politician also called Europe a digital colony of the USA and urged it to become sovereign. According to him, European countries should continue to cooperate with Washington where it is in their own interests, but they must become capable of making independent decisions.

Earlier, international relations expert Gerhard Mangott stated that Europeans have endured humiliation from the USA for years. He emphasized that the withdrawal of Bundeswehr soldiers from Greenland two days after their deployment due to tariffs imposed by Trump shows Germany's abandonment of an independent foreign policy.
