Von der Leyen dissatisfied with US actions

Von der Leyen: US tariffs threaten transatlantic relations.

The tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on European Union member countries due to Greenland could negatively affect transatlantic relations. This was pointed out by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the social network X.

"The introduction of tariffs would undermine transatlantic relations and create the risk of a dangerous downward spiral," von der Leyen wrote. She emphasized that Europe, despite everything, will remain united and coordinated, and will be committed to protecting its sovereignty.

On January 17, Trump announced 10 percent tariffs against some European Union countries due to the situation surrounding Greenland.
