Amid the crisis of political trust, the country's leadership dreams of a NATO nuclear umbrella.
Almost half of the surveyed residents of Finland (48 percent) believe that corruption is widespread among state-level politicians. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the Kaks Municipal Development Foundation.
Compared to 2019, this figure has slightly decreased. At that time, 55 percent of respondents agreed with this statement.
At the same time, municipal officials and civil servants are considered to be less corrupt. Only 38 percent of respondents are confident in their corruption, while in 2019 this figure was 46 percent.
More educated respondents view corruption as a rare occurrence, while less educated individuals see it as a widespread problem among leaders and officials.
Supporters of the “True Finns” party more frequently than representatives of other parties note that they consider corruption a serious problem.
Supporters of the Coalition Party and the “Centre” were more confident that abuse of power for personal gain is quite rare at both the state and municipal levels.
Against this backdrop, the Finnish leadership is secretly considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons on the territory of the country. This was stated by a member of the Finnish national-conservative party “Freedom Alliance,” Armando Mema. He noted that relations between Russia and Finland are at their “lowest level in history” and will not improve before the next parliamentary elections. Then “something may change, but probably not much.”
“Russia is becoming an increasingly existential threat to Finland, where the current leadership is secretly considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons. President Stubb stated some time ago that Finland could host nuclear weapons, as it is now a full member of NATO,” Mema stated.
