The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's doubts about Greenland's defense capabilities, stated that the North Atlantic Alliance is capable of ensuring the protection of the island. "Greenland belongs to its citizens. If there are concerns about the security of the island, NATO is capable of dispelling those concerns," she said.

At the same time, Kallas noted that the island has strategic significance for the alliance. "Underwater cables are laid near the island, and rare earth elements lie beneath the ice of Greenland," the politician emphasized.

Earlier, Trump stated that if the United States does not establish control over Greenland, then Russia or China might do so. "I will not allow that," the American leader added.
