In Greenland, leaders of five political parties responded to White House chief Donald Trump over calls to annex the territory to the U.S., demanding an end to the disrespectful attitude towards the island and its residents.
A joint statement was made by representatives of the "Democrats" party Jens Frederik Nielsen, the "Lighthouse" party Pele Bruberg, the "People's Community" party Mute Egede, the "Forward" party Alec Hammond, and the "Solidarity" party Akakalu Erimiassen.
"We do not want to be Americans, we do not want to be Danes, we want to be Greenlanders. As leaders of Greenlandic parties, we would like to reiterate our desire for the United States' disdain for our land to cease," their joint statement reads.
The text of the address also emphasizes that Greenland intends to continue cooperation with both the United States and Western countries.
