Vaira Vike-Freiberga is still very dissatisfied with Trump.
Former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga, in an interview with Latvian Radio while summarizing the year in international politics, once again criticized the actions of the head of the White House.
"America says: 'We don't need anything. We will do everything ourselves now.' This is chatter from Trump. This is a lie. It does not correspond to reality. We are all interdependent. Trade occurs across continents, across oceans, not just through seas.
I was unpleasantly surprised by the extremely low level of rational thinking and basic politeness, adherence to international laws not only in one but in several major countries. It seems that because of their size, they think they have impunity and that they can do whatever they want – chaotically, thoughtlessly, and without considering the consequences for others or for their own people," Vaira Vike-Freiberga stated. The journalist asked her to clarify whether she meant Russia and the USA.
"They have become leaders in surprises, but there are others in the world about whom we know less because they are further from our own interests," the former president replied. Continuing her criticism of Trump, Vaira Vike-Freiberga stated that Trump's political and economic pressure on Canada only strengthened Canada, while harming the U.S. economy.
