The Baltic country bordering Russia has allowed itself to produce mines

LRT: Lithuania has officially withdrawn from the Ottawa Convention on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines.

Lithuania has officially withdrawn from the Ottawa Convention on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines after six months since notifying the United Nations (UN) on this matter. This was reported by LRT.

"On Saturday, Lithuania officially withdrew from the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, accumulation, and production of anti-personnel mines," the agency's statement said.

This occurred exactly six months after Vilnius's official appeal to the UN. Along with Lithuania, a similar decision was made by Estonia, Latvia, and Finland. Lithuania also borders the Kaliningrad region of Russia.

In July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also suspended the action of the Ottawa Convention on anti-personnel mines for the country.
