Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister: "The Russian House in Baku was closed due to violations."
The Russian House in Baku was closed due to violations of Azerbaijani legislation. This was stated by the head of the republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, during a press conference, as reported by Haqqin on its Telegram channel.
"The Russian House in Azerbaijan operated without any registration, and the institution periodically received warnings about this. However, other violations continued. Therefore, a decision was made to close the Russian House," the diplomat stated.
He clarified that the last contacts regarding the functioning of the institution concluded a few weeks ago. According to him, the issue of closing the Russian House in Azerbaijan is definitively settled.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev refused to go to St. Petersburg for the CIS summit. It was also reported that Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding on military exercises with NATO. The document was signed in Baku by the Azerbaijani delegation along with representatives of the alliance. It is noted that Azerbaijan regularly conducts training on the bloc's standards in cooperation with a NATO mobile training team. "The parties expressed confidence that the upcoming exercises will deepen Azerbaijan's cooperation with NATO and strengthen regional security," the statement said.
