As a result of the car driving into people gathered for the parade in Nunspeet, Gelderland province, Netherlands, nine people were injured on Monday evening, the police reported, according to LETA citing AFP and AP.
At least three of the injured sustained serious injuries.
The police are currently not treating the incident as an attack. The investigation is ongoing.
In Nunspeet, located about 80 kilometers east of Amsterdam, a parade of Christmas-decorated vehicles was scheduled, which attracted many spectators. Following the incident, the parade was canceled.
The police reported that a 56-year-old woman from Nunspeet drove into the crowd. She has been detained.
