Aliyev has declined to visit the CIS summit in St. Petersburg.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will miss the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg due to a busy work schedule. This was reported by the administration of the republic's leader, as conveyed by the state news agency AZERTAJ.

"The head of our state will not be able to participate in the informal summit of the CIS heads of state, which will take place today in St. Petersburg, due to a busy work schedule," the statement said.

It was previously reported that Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding on military exercises with NATO. The document was signed in Baku by the Azerbaijani delegation together with representatives of the alliance. It is noted that Azerbaijan regularly conducts training in cooperation with NATO's mobile training group according to the bloc's standards. "The parties expressed confidence that the upcoming exercises will deepen Azerbaijan's cooperation with NATO and strengthen regional security," the statement said.
