Putin: in the event of a blockade of Kaliningrad, threats will be eliminated.
In the event of threats to the Kaliningrad region, Russia will eliminate them. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin during a live Q&A session combined with an end-of-year press conference.
The Suwalki Corridor, also known as the "Suwalki Gap," is a narrow strip of land approximately 100 km (65 miles in a straight line) long between Poland and Lithuania. This area borders Belarus (an ally of Russia) to the east and the Russian Kaliningrad region to the west, making it a key strategic point for NATO.
As reported by the French publication AgoraVox, in the event of a hypothetical conflict between Russia and NATO, the establishment of control over this corridor by Russian troops could lead to the isolation of the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) from the rest of the alliance, cutting off the only land route for the transfer of reinforcements from Poland and Western Europe, according to media reports.
