Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is not clinging to the presidential seat, but currently, it is practically impossible to hold elections in the country. The politician's words were reported by the Ukrainian agency UNIAN.
According to the Ukrainian leader, two issues need to be resolved before holding elections, and the main one is the security of conducting such an event. "First of all, security. How can they be held? How can this be done under shelling, under missiles? Regarding our military. The question is, how will they vote?" said Zelensky.
He also emphasized that a legislative framework is necessary for the legitimacy of holding elections. Responding to U.S. President Donald Trump's call to hold elections, Zelensky stated that this issue should be decided by the Ukrainian people, not by the peoples of other states.
