Dutch servicemen used weapons to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles spotted over Volkel Air Base on the evening of November 21. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom on Saturday, November 22.
Drones Flew Away in an Unknown Direction
Defenders of the military facility observed the drones for two hours, the Ministry of Defense indicated. The reasons for the UAVs' presence near the air base are unknown, the agency added. After the use of weapons, the drones flew away, and their further movement could not be tracked.
The gendarmerie and police of the country have been informed. They are conducting an investigation. For security reasons, the Ministry of Defense declined to disclose further details of the incident, in particular, to explain how the drones were detected and what specific actions were taken.
