Bloomberg: Gas prices in the United States have soared due to sanctions and attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian refineries.
Gasoline and diesel prices at gas stations in the United States have risen to their highest levels since January 2025. As reported by Bloomberg, this is due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian energy facilities, sanctions, and a decline in oil production.
The agency notes that prices have surged since Donald Trump returned to the presidency. Such an outcome is "unlikely to please the U.S. administration, which considers 'affordable energy' a top priority."
According to the agency, traders are concerned that sanctions against Russian oil and gas companies, as well as the European Union's restrictions on Russian oil supplies, which will take effect in January, threaten supply chains.
