White House press secretary Caroline Levitt stated that U.S. President Donald Trump intends to sue the BBC over the editing of his speech, despite the broadcaster's apologies.
According to Levitt, Trump considers the BBC to be a 'leftist propaganda machine that, unfortunately, is subsidized by British taxpayers.'
'As you know, the president's outside legal counsel has filed a lawsuit against the BBC. We expect it to continue, and whether they apologize or not depends on them,' she added.
As reported by bb.lv, recently the U.S. president warned the British broadcaster BBC in a letter that he may sue over the editing of his speech from January 6, 2021, in a documentary.
The film was released just days before the U.S. presidential elections in November 2024, but only drew attention after The Daily Telegraph published a leak of an internal memo from the BBC last week.
In the memo, a former independent external advisor to the BBC's Editorial Standards Committee expressed concern that part of the speech had been edited in such a way as to suggest that Trump was directly encouraging the storming of the Capitol.
