Due to smuggled balloons, three planes from Vilnius were redirected to the airports of Riga and Kaunas

Due to smuggled balloons, three planes that were supposed to land at Vilnius Airport on the night from Monday to Tuesday were redirected to the airports of Kaunas and Riga.

According to the National Crisis Management Center of Lithuania, 34 radar detections were recorded overnight. The State Border Guard Service of Lithuania discovered six smuggled cargoes.

Tadas Vasiliauskas, a representative of the company "Lietuvos oro uostai," reported that planes flying from Tenerife and Madeira were redirected to Kaunas Airport, while a plane from Amsterdam was sent to Riga Airport. This affected a total of 470 passengers.

Ingrida Daugirde, a representative of "Oro navigacija," informed BNS that temporary restrictions on the arrival of planes at Vilnius Airport were implemented after authorities received information about an unidentified object spotted in the airspace.
