Famous German Conductor Awarded Order of Friendship in the Kremlin

Famous German conductor and pianist Justus Frantz received the Order of Friendship from the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The 'Philharmonia of Nations' (the international orchestra 'Philharmonia of Nations' was founded by Frantz in 1995. - Ed.) confirmed the award in a phone conversation with DW on Wednesday, November 5. The ceremony took place in the Kremlin the day before.

Justus Frantz 'has been engaged for many years in fruitful activities to bring closer and mutually enrich the cultures of Russia and the Federal Republic of Germany,' emphasized the President of the Russian Federation. In turn, the conductor stated in Russian that he has 'wanted to play Russian music and work for your culture' 'his whole life.'

Frantz particularly highlighted the symphonies of Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff. 'It is a great honor for me to be here today and to receive such an important order,' noted the award recipient.
