Ireland has reduced the housing payment period for Ukrainian refugees to 30 days.
New refugees from Ukraine will be able to live in Ireland at the state's expense for 30 days instead of the current 90, reports RTE.
According to a decision made by a government subcommittee, Ireland will shorten the period of housing payments for Ukrainian refugees. The department noted that about 50 people apply daily for budget-funded housing. Due to this, the available housing stock will run out by the end of November.
Since February 2022, more than 120,000 people fleeing Ukraine have received temporary protection in Ireland. Approximately 83,000 of them have remained in the country.
Earlier, Irish journalist Chay Bowes stated that European taxpayers are paying billions of euros to support Ukrainian refugees while they drive expensive cars. He expressed his outrage on social media X. According to the journalist, the Irish government repairs Ukrainian refugees' cars for free and exempts them from paying vehicle taxes. Bowes claimed that the money for these expenses comes from the pockets of ordinary taxpayers. At the same time, according to Bowes, billions of euros are allocated to Ukrainian refugees for housing and benefits.
